Join Body Safety Australia, Loud Fence and Dr Red Ruby Scarlet in lifting the silenced voices of children and survivors - let ribbons speak where words were stolen.
Body Safety Australia is dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse through education, awareness, and community support. We work tirelessly to create safe environments for children and provide resources for families and communities.
LOUD fence stands with victim-survivors of child sexual assault, and their loved ones. The colourful ribbons tied to fences represent the voices of those who have been silenced. LOUD fence began as a community response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and has since grown into a powerful movement of solidarity and support.
Dr Red Ruby Scarlet is an activist, early childhood teacher-researcher, consultant, artist and academic with over 30 years experience. She holds multiple degrees in early childhood education
Red's expertise spans pedagogy, curriculum, documentation, inclusion, anti-bias, leadership, advocacy and art. She has developed curriculum frameworks nationally and internationally, and received numerous awards for her teaching and advocacy. She publishes widely, foregrounding teacher-research stories and raising the voices of educators through storytelling.
Our project is inspired by the LOUD Fence movement, which began in Ballarat as a way to honour survivors of child sexual abuse. We're holding a vigil Thursday 4th September 2025 at Parliament House in Canberra, using baby gates to represent early childhood and tying colourful ribbons to symbolise the children who’ve been harmed. Anyone passing by can add a ribbon - no names, just a gesture of care and solidarity. We hope this grows into a heartfelt, grassroots campaign, with ribbons appearing at kindergartens, schools, and public spaces all across the country.
